Many people don’t spend much time thinking about their plumbing until something in the kitchen or bathroom breaks down. The following excerpt from WaterWorld discusses some of the motives of the World Plumbing Council, which designated March 11 of every year as World Plumbing Day:
World Plumbing Day has been established to help the general public better understand the vital role that the plumbing industry plays in protecting public health and safety, and the extent to which the plumbing industry helps limit mankind’s environmental footprint. This day also acknowledges other important work being performed by contractors, inspectors, installers, engineers, manufacturers and academicians that is often taken for granted.
The World Plumbing Council and the American Society of Sanitary Engineering would like to see World Plumbing Day used to promote the fact that plumbing tradespersons are professionals and that these professionals have the utmost importance in protecting the environment and public health.
The contributions of industry players
Suppliers and manufacturers of plumbing supplies, like Gruner Brass Fittings Corp., produce quality brass fittings and other plumbing necessities in different shapes and sizes to cater to the various needs of their consumers. These include couplings, drain cocks, bushings, valves, and tubing. Aside from providing standard-sized fittings, suppliers also provide customized fittings based on the specifications of their clients.
These include custom brass pipe fittings such as unions, caps, plugs, bushings, lock nuts, and nipples. Suppliers and manufacturers of plumbing supplies provide what’s necessary for the general public to gain access to safe drinking water. In addition, their products and technologies are used to create sufficient sanitation systems.
The importance of plumbing systems remains underrated
It’s unfortunate that the significant role played by plumbing professionals as well as plumbing suppliers and manufacturers remains undervalued. What many people fail to realize is that their health and safety will be placed at great risk if these players don’t do their respective jobs. In fact, the costs associated with plumbing system repair is even regarded as a nuisance by certain homeowners.
At times, the maintenance of such systems isn’t even a consideration unless a problem starts to surface. Nevertheless, plumbing systems need to be maintained, as they’re responsible for the distribution of clean drinking water, and the safe removal of waterborne waste. Whenever you’re in need of a plumber’s services, find a plumber that has earned a reputation for delivering high quality services.
